About Another Way
Another Way helps nonprofits build brands people believe in and teams where people thrive.
At the heart of that work is making sure your communications, with the world and within your organization, advance the change you strive for and uphold the values you stand for.
Why It Matters
In nonprofit work, it makes sense to put enormous effort into delivering on the mission. Yet how organizations communicate their impact to the world and how they communicate with the teams who make that impact possible often go without the attention they deserve. That comes at a cost.
Good work isn't enough if people don't know about the difference you make, or if they experience a mismatch between the values you communicate and the ones you practice. When that happens, your impact goes unseen and your story falls out of step with your values, putting your visibility, credibility, and the trust of both supporters and staff at risk.
There's another way: one where how you communicate is part of the change you create.
Building brands people believe in and teams where people thrive requires intention and, most of all, trust. Authentic communications start with truly living out your values.
When words and actions align, visibility grows, credibility deepens, and trust flourishes.
Another way becomes possible.
Who Another Way Works With
Another Way is committed to helping nonprofits that are determined to lead their work and their teams with the same care they bring to their mission.
Organizations of all shapes and sizes are in Another Way's wheelhouse. The most fruitful partnerships tend to be with organizations whose work directly touches people's lives, and whose leaders are nimble, self-reflective, and open to new ideas and possibilities.
Another Way most often partners with CEOs and executive directors, communications leaders, and the people and culture leaders who shape how teams work together.
Engagements often begin at a moment of trying, building, or launching something new, or of growing, transforming, or repositioning. In particular, you might come to Another Way when you, your organization, or a leader on your team are:
Growing and Protecting Your Brand
Working without senior communications leadership or an established communications function, or with a team that's stretched thin
Developing a communications strategy, sharpening your brand positioning and messaging, or planning a campaign to grow your visibility and support
Growing your organization's thought leadership profile, building a stronger public voice for senior leaders, or developing a deeper bench of spokespeople
Seeking impact stories and content gathered and developed for you, with informed consent and ethical storytelling practices at every step
Taking on a major partnership or campaign activation, film or photo shoot, or high-profile media opportunity, and needing senior oversight to make sure it delivers real value and reflects your mission and values
Building your team's skills and confidence through training in ethical storytelling and content capture, media and interview preparation, public speaking, or communications for non-communications staff
Strengthening your organization's ability to spot and prepare for communications risks before they become crises, or rebuilding your reputation after one with a real commitment to change
Cultivating Stronger Leaders and Thriving Teams
Stepping into leadership for the first time, taking on a new or broader role, inheriting a team, or navigating another leadership challenge
Strengthening how leaders communicate with staff, so people feel valued and connected to the mission, and trust grows over time
Navigating organizational change, such as a new strategy, new leadership, or new ways of working, and wanting to communicate it in a way that keeps people informed, heard, and engaged
Working to rebuild trust or address morale, retention, or burnout within a team or across the organization
You don't need everyone on board to get started. What matters most is that you're genuinely invested and open to new perspectives. From there, part of the work can be helping you bring others along.
How Another Way Works
Another Way grew from a desire to bring care and authenticity, the values that draw so many people to nonprofit work in the first place, back to the forefront of how the sector approaches communications and culture.
If you’re responsible for moving nonprofit work forward, you know just how finite time, resources, and attention can be. The pressure to deliver under such constraints can quickly become overwhelming and make it easy for organizations to get out of sync with their values. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
When you work with Another Way, you gain a partner who knows from a career spent with sleeves rolled up just how hard this work can be. You also gain someone who knows what it takes to communicate your impact clearly and credibly and to make meaningful change happen from within, despite those challenges.
In every working relationship, you’ll see Another Way’s commitment to living out its own values: sharing power, paying it forward, and striving to be kind, all while doing work that knocks your socks off.
“The gentlest thing in the world overcomes the hardest thing in the world.”
Meet the Founder
Another Way is a solo practice led by founder Kristin Taylor, a nonprofit communications executive who has dedicated her career to purpose-driven work.
Across 15+ years in the sector, she has driven brand growth for a wide array of organizations while building and leading teams rooted in trust, championing healthy organizational cultures, and guiding leaders through complexity, change, and reputational risk.
Kristin founded Another Way to bring together the two parts of the work she cares about most: how nonprofits share their purpose and how they show up for their own people.
